Music For Learning

The Music For Learning Program is a collaboration between Music For Minors, the Redwood City Education Foundation, and the Redwood City School District. The program is designed to provide sequential, standards-based music education lessons to all second through fourth grade students in 15 Redwood City elementary schools. These schools are Adelante, Clifford, Roy Cloud, John Gill, Fair Oaks, Henry Ford, Garfield, Hawes, Hoover, Newcomers Academy, North Star, Orion, Roosevelt, Selby Lane, and Taft Elementary School.

Music For Learning places highly qualified paid instructors (many of whom are professional musicians) in these schools’ second through fourth grade classrooms. The instructors teach general music for 30 minutes per session, once each week for one semester. This program brings a common repertoire to students throughout the district for the first time. While it is a vocally-based program, Music For Learning also provides a strong foundation for instrumental music in subsequent years.

Our talented instructors this year are Raquel Menjivar, Kathy Parmentier, Mary Ellen Pense, Donna Poulos, Dawn Reyen and Maren Stever.
