Professional Educator Program

Redwood City:

This program, known as Music for Learning, is collaboration between Music for Minors, the Redwood City Education Foundation, and the Redwood City School District. It is designed to provide sequential, standards-based music education lessons to all 2nd-5th grade students in 15 Redwood City elementary schools. These schools are Adelante, Clifford, Roy Cloud, John Gill, Fair Oaks, Henry Ford, Garfield, Hawes, Hoover, Newcomers Academy, North Star, Orion, Roosevelt, Selby Lane, and Taft Elementary School.  While it is a vocally-based program, Music for Learning teaches recorder in 4th and 5th grades while also providing a strong foundation for instrumental music in subsequent years.

Our Redwood City instructors this year are Cathy Luo, Raquel Menjivar, Mary Ellen Pense, Donna Poulos, Dawn Reyen, and Maren Stever.

San Carlos:

This program is a partnership between Music for Minors and the San Carlos Education Foundation.  It is designed to provide sequential, standards-based music education lessons to all K-4th grade students in schools throughout the district.  These schools are Arundel, Brittain Acres, Heather, San Carlos Charter Learning Center, and White Oaks Elementary School.  Also based in vocal music, the recorder is taught as part of the 4th grade curriculum.  This general music program provides a strong foundation for instrumental music in subsequent years.

Our San Carlos instructors this year are Ruth Bennett, Cynthia de Lamare, Rebecca Kleinman, Cathy Luo, Raquel Menjivar, Mary Ellen Pense, RoJeanne Sawey, and Liz Walker.
