MFM Training
The Music For Minors Training Program is designed to provide all the tools necessary to teach music in an elementary school classroom. It is exclusively offered through MFM and has something for everyone. Whether you are a classroom teacher, musician, parent with a limited musical background, or a working or retired professional, this course will expand your skills and open your eyes to new ideas. Equally important, training connects you to a community of peers who are passionate about music and dedicated to keeping music education alive in our schools.
MFM Training is a 34-hour, comprehensive, college-credited course offered through the College of San Mateo and Foothill College.
The course is designed for adult volunteers of the MFM In-School Docent Program but is also available to non-volunteers for a fee.
Training begins each fall and runs September through November.
Topics covered in this hands-on, interactive course include basic music theory, classroom management, lesson planning, as well as age-appropriate songs, games, rhythm and movement activities.
