Mission Success! Former MFM Students
Tyler Polen
Tyler Polen, MFM student from 2002-2004, has pursued his love of singing for many years with different choruses, including: Cantabile Youth Singers, Almond School Chorus, and the Ragazzi Boys Chorus (since kindergarten). Tyler was actually "discovered" by his preschool music teacher who happened to be one of the MFM Founding Mothers, Nancy Wilde, who has taken a special interest in his musical development over the years.
Tyler's exceptional ability and vocal training have led to a number of extraordinary performance opportunities. In 2008, at the age of 12, he performed the title role of Rachel Portman's The Little Prince for the San Francisco Opera. In addition, he soloed in the San Francisco Symphony's performance of The Shadows of Time (by Henri Dutilleux) in 2006. Tyler has also performed the boy-soprano solos in Leonard Bernstein's Chichester Psalms (The Congregational Church of San Mateo, 2007); "Pie Jesu" from Fauré's Requiem with Soli Deo Gloria (2008); and Mozart's Laudate Dominum for the Ragazzi Boys Chorus.
Now a junior at Los Altos High School, he continues his musical education as a member the Ragazzi Boys Chorus. During his seven years with Ragazzi, he sang with the American Choral Directors Association's Western Division Honor Choir in Salt Lake City, Utah (2006) and Anaheim, California (2008); performed with the Ragazzi Boys Chorus in Opera San Jose's La Boheme (2006); toured to Australia, New Zealand, Cuba, and Canada; and participated with them in the International Choral Festival in Missoula, Montana, the Kathaumixw International Choral Festival in British Columbia, and the Golden Gate International Children's and Youth Choral Festival in Berkeley.
