Sarah McKinney

Sarah McKinney, MFM student from 1982-1988, is a graduate student in business who calls music a grounding force in her life, one she returns to for comfort and an avenue of expression.  In her own words…

“Music is a big part of my life…  I am the family member and friend that has always made mixed CDs for others, and am in constant search of new artists to find inspiration in.  Some of my happiest memories are times I've seen live music, and many of my relationships have been deepened over a shared love of particular artists or bands. I recently led a workshop among young girls on songwriting, and to see the passion these girls had for music brought me back to my childhood and the fun we had when docents would visit our classrooms.  It's amazing to me that I still remember all the lyrics to those songs.  Looking back, it was a time that differences between classmates were forgotten, replaced by the need to memorize words and express ourselves as a group.  It brought us together. Music for Minors is an amazing organization that ensures music stays a part of children's lives, regardless of budgetary constraints. Thank you for the work you do, and for helping to deepen the presence music has had in my life.”
